Expectant Prayer

Apr 12, 2026    Adam Smith

This week Pastor Adam invites us to rediscover the heart of prayer through the words of Jesus: “Ask, Seek, Knock.” Confronting both the promise of God’s generosity and the reality of unanswered prayers, he challenges the assumptions that often lead us to lower our expectations of God.

Rather than offering formulas or explanations, he reframes prayer as something deeper than simply getting what we want. Prayer is an invitation into relationship with a good and loving Father—one who is not reluctant, distant, or annoyed, but eager to hear and respond. Even in moments of disappointment, we are reminded that God’s character remains trustworthy and His love unwavering.

Through honest reflection and biblical insight, we learn that prayer is not just about changing our circumstances, but about being transformed. As we bring our real desires, struggles, and hopes before God, He shapes our hearts to align with His will. This message calls us to approach God with renewed confidence, boldness, and expectation—trusting that He is always at work, even when the answers look different than we imagined.
