Entrusted With The Kingdom
In Matthew 13, Jesus closes a series of kingdom parables with the Parable of the Dragnet, a brief but weighty illustration about final judgment. A net cast into the sea gathers every kind of fish, and at the end of the age, angels will separate the righteous from the wicked in the same way. One of the most sobering truths in this parable is that being near the kingdom is not the same as belonging to it. A person can be surrounded by the things of God and still lack genuine saving faith. The good news is that citizenship in the kingdom is not earned through effort or religious performance. It is received through faith in Jesus Christ, who died in our place and rose again. Understanding this truth is only the beginning. Those who truly belong to the King are called to let that truth transform them and share it with others.
