Exceeding Righteousness: Lust & Fidelity
This week, PastorAdam continues to explore the profound implications of Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5. While the world often suggests that private thoughts are harmless, Jesus warns that harboring lustful intent is equivalent to committing adultery in the heart. Far from a victimless pursuit, lust is a violent act of objectification that reduces others to tools for personal gratification. Worse, this inward corruption creates "mental highways" that eventually reshape how we relate to others, leading to a consumerist approach toward family, business, and even the church. We are challenged to take radical action—to "cut off" the habits and devices that feed sin while simultaneously cultivating a greater affection for Jesus Christ. Through repentance and confession, we find Christ’s sacrificial love offers the healing and freedom necessary to live with true integrity.
