A Clash of Kingdoms

Sep 28, 2025    Adam Smith

In his exposition of Matthew 2, Pastor Adam reminds us that the birth of Jesus brings about a clash of kingdoms. The Magi, unlikely outsiders, become some of the first worshippers of Christ, while those who should have recognized Him – King Herod and the religious leaders – either resist or remain indifferent. This challenges us to examine our own response to Jesus. Are we like the Magi, willing to journey far and offer our best in worship? Or do we resist His lordship, fearing what we might lose? Jesus didn't come to take from us, but to give us true life and a greater kingdom. The clash of kingdoms continues in our own lives every day, urging us to surrender our rival kingdoms and find our place in God's greater story.
