From Sorrow to Joy

In Psalm 30 we're invited to consider the pivotal moments in our lives when we thought we were standing alone, only to discover that God's presence had been sustaining us all along. The psalm's three movements—Up From the Pit, The Hard Look Back, and Mourning to Dancing— frame our own spiritual journey. The sermon connects this ancient Psalm of David to the story of Peter's denial and restoration, showing us that repentance and forgiveness are the keys that unlock the passage from darkness to light, from sorrow to joy. As we enter Advent it’s important that we know Jesus himself embodied this tension, being both a man of sorrows and one who endured the cross for the joy set before Him.
