Lesson:
SCRIPTURE: JOHN4
STORY POINT: Jesus told the Samaritan woman that He the Messiah.
CHRIST CONNECTION: Jesus offered the woman something no one else could give her: living water. Jesus wasn’t talking about water to drink, but about the Holy Spirit. Jesus gives the Holy Spirit to those who trust in Him.
KEY PASSAGE: You know that He appeared in order to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin. -1 John 3:5
BIG PICTURE QUESTION: Did Jesus ever sin? No, Jesus never sinned.
TEACHING STYLE: Play, community building, interactive learning through Bible story telling, activities and song, help build a safe and fun environment for our Early Childhood kids to learn about God's love and His Word. Active learning connects individual stories to the broader "Big Picture" of God's redemptive story. As our littles have gotten older, the stories become longer, their interaction with the Gospel goes deeper, questions are asked and answered, vocabulary grows and Gospel seeds continue to be sown in their hearts.

LIVING WATER CRAFT
Directions:
Pass out one living water craft to each child. Place daubers on each table. (Being sure to put a few blue ones at each table). Instruct the kids to stamp the water drops with blue and the pot with any colors they want. Baby wipes will be provided for easy cleanup of the kids hands and the tables. (Ignore the mixed up water drops on the example! oops!)
Say:
Jesus told the woman at the well that He could give her something no one else could—living water. The woman thought Jesus was talking about water to drink, but Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirit. Jesus gives the Holy Spirit to people who believe and trust in Him.

POUR WATER
Directions:
Have the kids sit on the rug. Say the “SAY” part below first. Then instruct the children that they will take turns pouring water into a container. Let them know that pouring water is fun, but that we do not want to pour water on ourselves or on our friends. We will hold the cup like this (demonstrate) and walk it over to the container and pour it in very slowly. Let’s see if we can pour all the water in the container and try our best not to spill! (If they spill it is ok, it’s just water). Then bring the kids outside onto the patio. There will be cups of water lined up for the kids to pour. Please NOTE I just did a water activity where we were washing blocks, with 9 of these littles this past Sunday, I explained all the rules ahead of time and they did great. Even though they were washing blocks in shared water buckets (5 boys sharing 1 bucket) no one splashed, no messes were made, they did amazing. As long as the guidelines are given ahead of time this offers a great sensory experience for the kids that they are more than capable of doing.
Say:
Did you know our bodies can’t live without drinking water? While traveling, Jesus stopped at a well in Samaria. A woman came to the well to get water. Jesus asked her to give Him a drink. They began talking, and Jesus told the Samaritan woman that He is God’s Son. Jesus offered the woman living water, which is the Holy Spirit. When we trust in Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit, we have life with God forever.

DRAW WATER FROM THE WELL
Directions:
Have the kids sit on the rug. Place the “well” bucket on the ground on one side of the table with the small bucket full of bean bags in the well. Lay the rope over the table and have the kids take turns “drawing water" from the well.
Say:
A well is a place where people go to get water. Would you like to have to pull your water up from a well every time you wanted to get a drink? The woman at the well in Samaria was there getting water. Jesus talked to her about living water so that she would never again get thirsty. Jesus offered the woman living water, which is the Holy Spirit. When we trust in Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit, we have life with God forever.

FIND THE CUPS
Directions:
Cups will be taped all over the class, have the kids help gather them.
Say:
As Jesus was traveling, He met a woman at a well, and He asked for a drink of water. Jesus told her that anyone who drinks water from a well will get thirsty again, but whoever drinks living water will never get thirsty again. Jesus gives the living water which is the Holy Spirit.

WATER THE FLOWERS
Directions:
For Go & Serve Saturday we planted flowers outside the Early Childhood classroom. There are mini watering cans you can use to take the kids outside and water the flowers. This is an ongoing activity for the season. There is a hose outside by the flowers you can use to fill up the cans. (It’s also nice to do this ahead of time if you want.)
