FEED THE LION

Directions:
Have the kids take turns “feeding” the lion through the hole in his mouth.  Remember this is to be a fun activity, please do not pretend that the lion is biting the kids hands as they feed him.

Say:
Lions are big but amazing creatures. Did God keep Daniel safe from the lions in our Bible story? Yes! God kept Daniel safe from the lions so they would not hurt him. When we trust Jesus, He saves us and gives us life with God forever.

LION CRAFT

Directions:
Each child will get a lion printout and a selection of pompoms. The printouts have glue dots already stuck on them. Please do not have the kids remove the top part of the glue dot, we tried this in class already and the kids kept removing the whole dot. Help the kids by removing the top to the glue dots so they can choose a pompom to stick on their lions. Pass out crayons if there are older kids who want to color.

Say:
Daniel trusted God, and God protected him. Where did the king put Daniel? (the lions’ den) Did God protect Daniel? (yes) Daniel trusted God, and God protected him from the lions.

WALK LIKE A LION GAME

Directions:
Show the toddlers how to crawl like a lion. Next, ask them to give a loud “roar”. Then have them give a roar with their mouths closed. (Because God shut the mouths of the lions). Explain that you want the kids to crawl around and pretend to be a lion, but when you say “sleep.” They must lie down and stay still.  Repeat as long as there is interest.

Say:
Who closed the lions’ mouths? Yes, God did! Daniel prayed to God, and God kept Daniel safe. When we trust Jesus, He saves us and gives us life with God forever.

LION POMPOM MATCHING ACTIVITY

Directions:
Layout the lion cards face down. Have the kids take turns flipping over one card and then matching the color on the lion to a pompom and then place the pompom on the lion.

Say:
In today’s Bible story, Daniel was thrown in a lions’ den because he would not pray to King Darius. Daniel only prayed to God. God sent and angel to shut the lions’ mouths, and Daniel lived. Daniel trusted God, and God protected him.

DANIEL AND THE LIONS' DEN FLANNEL BOARD

You have a flannel board to help you retell the story. I would suggest first telling the story with the Bible Lesson Cards. Then retell the story with the flannel board. You can have the kids help you retell the story and interact with pieces.
